5 On-Scene Management Tips Media Staging Considerations Where do I put them? Who will have access inside the facility? How close will they be able to get? How will I keep my eye on them?

6 Dealing With The Incident React immediately. Notify company officials. Determine call-out status. Confirm back-up systems.

7 Prior To Your Arrival Gather as much information as possible. Provide instruction to staff on site (make sure they know the policy). Notify security as to where to stage the media until you get there. Advise security what to say until you get there.

8 Upon Your Arrival Greet media reps. See that they are properly staged. Brief them if you know anything. Establish ground rules.

9 Roco’s Top 20 Crisis Communications Rules 1.Tell the truth, even when it hurts. 2.Talk to be understood. 3.Avoid technical jargon. 4.Expect to be nervous.
