News from Atlantis Event Display Qiang Lu, Mark Stockton, Juergen Thomas, Peter Watkins (Birmingham) Hans Drevermann (CERN) Andrew Haas (Columbia) Eric Jansen, Pieter Klok, Charles Timmermans (Nijmegen, NIKHEF) Simon Dean, Janice Drohan, Nikos Konstantinidis, Zdenek Maxa (UCL) Physics Analysis Tools Meeting ATLAS Software Week, CERN, 12 Sep 2006

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20062 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Outline Changes in display of AOD data:  Electrons, Muons  Merging of ParticleJet and Jet Trigger data: ROI updates (11.0.5/12.0.2 AODs) Demonstration mode More News from Atlantis Next steps: Restructuring of JiveXML NOTE: Shown features are in Atlantis versions from AtlantisJava-09-05-77

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20063 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Changes in display of AOD data (1) In eta/phi projection:  Electrons are now green V’s  Muons are red V’s Perfect V, according to charge and pT Due to default 5 GeV cut, most are actually small flat line No association with Vertex (yet) ! (Can’t say that origin is primary vertex from seeing a prefect V, as with normal tracks). No association with cluster yet.

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20064 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Multiple Collections Atlantis can now display different sets of the same data type: ‘multiple collections’ First implemented by request of InDet Commissioning: Compare different Track algorithm results graphically Now many data types are multiple collections, e.g. Tracks, ETMis, Jet/ParticleJet JiveXML retrieves all collections of the same data type. A default is defined in JiveXML, written as first entry of the block of data into XML file. Collection is selected from drop-down menu in GUI, either only one or ‘all’. Coloring options: ‘Constant’ – all in same color, or ‘by Collection’ with different color for every collection

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20065 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Changes in display of AOD data (2) ParticleJets are now merged with Jet datatype, as multiple collection (Cone4ParticleJet is default) Missing ET is also multiple collection (MET_Final is default) Picture: default collections … now switch to …

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20066 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Changes in display of AOD data (3) … now switch to … ‘all’ collections for Jet and ETMis (just for illustration) Jet: Color by Collection Jet: Same Color for all Collections The various MissingET’s in AODs

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20067 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Demo mode For demonstrations, e.g. at public displays or exhibitions GUI in ‘Help’->’Demo Mode’ Select set of events, random/sequential order, which projection, timer interval Start / Resume / Stop To be added soon: Read events from Server

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20068 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Trigger data in 11.5.0 / 12.0.2 AODs By default, AODs from 11.5.0 and 12.0.2 contain trigger objects:  LVL1_ROI  CTP_Decision  TriggerDecision (12.0.2) ROI retrievers in Atlantis updated to read JetROI, EmTauROI, MuonROI ROIs displayed as fixed- sized, crossed squares in eta/phi projection ESDs contain LVL1TriggerTowers and LVL1JetElements (see April presentation in PAT meeting) TriggerDecision values to be displayed as text soon (current trigger menu results in almost all events accepted by Lvl1 and Lvl2) MuonROI JetROI EmTauROI

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 20069 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Legoplot improvements Updating problem fixed Scaling of towers more consistent Consistent axis labels Lego cuts now also taken from Cuts panel Zoom, move, rotate, SychroCursor now implemented as in other projections

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 200610 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis More news from Atlantis (1) TruthTrack association using barcode – association of one hit-many tracks Association of trigger spacepoints (TrigS3D) with reconstructed Track and TruthTracks. Many bug fixes and clean-ups JiveXML: Various adjustments to changes in Offline software (esp 12.0.x) Major restructuring of JiveXML: Same codebase, but broken into packages (Calo, InDet, Muon etc.), which then committed into release areas of respective subdetector. To improve interfacing and simplify updates after object changes in subdetectors. Timescale: until end of Sept (not before 12.3.0) Users will only see small changes (different job options for AOD running, will be explained on TWiki in time)

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 200611 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis More news from Atlantis (2) Job option fragment available for reading AODs from Atlfast and producing JiveXML output. See details on TWiki page https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/Atlas/AtlantisWithAOD Atlantis now only supports Atlfast data in AOD output format. ‘Fast’ mode was retired. New start-up options, listed with: java -jar atlantis.jar --help

News from Atlantis Event Display 12 Sep 200612 Atlantis.Support@cern.ch http://cern.ch/atlantis Summary Improvements made to displays of AOD data: Electron, Muons as V’s, Jet and ParticleJet merged. Multiple collections implemented Demo mode useful for public displays Legoplot improvements Major restructuring of JiveXML will help future updates and maintenance Please send comments, questions and suggestions to atlantis.support@cern.ch
