4 On Tuesday 10 th February the school netball team had a match at home to Dorrington Academy. We were able to hand out debuts to a couple of the year 5 members of our squad (Darby and Annice) who played well, worked hard and enjoyed their first experience of competitive netball. Also making a very impressive, influential debut was Isobelle Thompson from year 6. Ameile was missing from this fixture due to other sporting commitments and so Isobelle stepped in to take her place and form the GA/GS partnership with Kadeem. Replacing Ameile and starting a new partnership was potentially a difficult challenge, however Isobelle performed fantastically and showed great composure whilst shooting. She eventually went on to score 6, while Kadeem (who moved to GA for this game; making him more involved with the overall play) scored 4. Ashton was moved back in to a more defensive position for this match and stuck to his new role exceptionally well. Throughout the side, every member of the team worked hard (both to stop the opposition and to create space) moved the ball up the field quickly (with fast, accurate passing) and all added towards an overall superb team performance and emphatic victory. This win put us top of the league (for now) but the team know they will need to maintain their levels of work rate and skill in order to stay there.

5 (Above) Isobelle is pictured shooting one of her six successful points into the hoop. Isobelle and Kadeem formed a threatening GA/GS partnership. Isobelle (GS) showing a good technique whilst shooting. Kadeem regularly took up a good position to claim any rebounds under the net.

6 Darby (Centre of picture- in the middle of kyla and misty) made her team debut against Dorrington. (Above) Dorrington scoring their consolation point. Despite the score their mteam worked hard right until the end of the game so credit to them for their enthusiasm and commitment. (Left) Awa (GK) watches on as Great Barr look to attack.
