4 More Than a Scholarship The STEM scholars program at LMC Not just about financial support About providing academic and professional support to you About preparing you for the future

5 Main Requirements STEM Scholarship Requirements GPA  2.7 STEM GPA  3.0 Enrolled full-time (12 units or more) Be a STEM Major Have financial need Not fulfilling one of these results in disqualification

6 Supplemental Requirements STEM Scholarship Requirements 6 meetings with Mentor per Semester including Mixers Meet with MESA counselor once a semester and submit Ed Plan Attend two tours of STEM transfer universities per year Complete 3 activities per semester Not fulfilling one of these results in Probation

7 Supplemental Requirements Activities Attend a MESA Guest Speaker Be A STEM Tutor (MESA, Math lab, Core) Toured a local STEM Company Joined a Club Attended a STEM Conference Attended 3 AEWs per semester Participated in the STEM ambassador program Arranged a Town Hall Meeting Attended other professional/academic workshop on campus Attended a college fair Accepted a STEM internship Other PRE-APPROVED activity Must Be 3 Different Activities

8 Field trips to Transfer Universities Some trips can be reserved through MESA All trips with the Transfer center are eligible Can be completed independently … but must Obtain confirmation signature. Have the tour guide email me directly. Write a 1-page report (include name of university, date of tour, departments visited, benefits gained from tour)... due one week after the tour.

9 Probation/ Disqualification Policy or Miss ONE field trip to a transfer university Miss any ONE of the three supplemental activities. Missing two meetings with mentor per semester Miss a meeting with a STEM counselor in a semester Miss two field trips to a transfer university. Miss two or more of the three supplemental activities in a semester Miss 3 or more meetings with mentor Did not take the MESA Counseling Course Tier I Probation Tier II Probation & hold of funds Missed activities must be made up or will result in

10 Probation/ Disqualification Policy Miss ONE field trip to a transfer university Miss any ONE of the three supplemental activities. Missing several meetings with the mentor Miss a meeting with a STEM counselor in a semester. Tier I Probation Tier II Probation & hold of funds Tier I Probation students must make up the missed activities in the following semester. Failure to do so will result in Tier II Probation. Tier II Probation students will have all their future scholarship payments placed ON-HOLD until they make up all missed activities within the following semester. Failure to do so will result in Disqualification Miss two field trips to a transfer university. Miss two or more of the three supplemental activities in a semester Miss 3 or more meetings with mentor Did not take the MESA Counseling Course

11 Standards Report Fall Deadlines Must be submitted for mid-semester review and a signature from me on Friday October 23 rd, 2015 Due, completed with signatures, on Friday December 11 th, 2015 Not submitting the standards report will result in Tier II probation

12 Disbursement days September 4 th for those whose file is complete October 23 rd February 11 th If all standard reports are turned in from fall April 1 st
