12 Offline Remote Data Handling Another type of remote data handling Called CDF SAM Data Handling SAM : Sequential Access thru Metadata Offline data are monitored and manipulated

13 CDF DH Elements Fermilab Mass Storage System enstore –In-house, manages files, tape volumes, tape libraries –End-user direct interface to files on tape dCache –Joint DESY and Fermilab, disk caching front-end –End user interface to read cached files, write files to enstore indirectly via dCache pnfs –DESY file namespace server (nfs interface) used by both enstore and dCache

15 CDF SAM Data Handling Shift Mostly by Offsite Remote Collaborators –Hyunwoo KIM(KISTI) since last Nov. CDF SAM/DH Group –Led by Angela Bellavance –Shift Crew consist of ~10 persons Relevant Group –The dCache/enstore group of FNAL CD –CAF (CDF Analysis Farm) Group

20 Summary KISTI has successfully implemented two e-Science components for HEP –Remote Shifts for both online monitoring CO and offline SAM Data Handling. These two are cornerstones for KISTI to establish e-Science for High Energy Physics.
