1 Sistah Circular V olume 1, Issue 6 Editor: Lorie McEachin Enjoy! July 2006 REVELATIONS! Reclaim Your Power Release Your Potential Reveal Your Purpose! Favorite Scripture: “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His Purpose.” Romans 8:28 Favorite Quote: “Don’t let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life.” “Sistah Quote” “Find Your True Purpose, and You Shall Find Your True Self” - Lorie “Wisdom Knot" This Adinkra West African symbol, is an especially revered symbol of the Akan, it conveys the idea that "a wise person has the capacity to choose the best means to attain a goal. Being wise implies broad knowledge, learning and experience, and the ability to apply such faculties to practical ends." “Think it, Believe it and Achieve It.......!” I live by the phrase, “Change the way you think, and you will change your life!” How true it is, how true it is. Listening to your inner spirit can be challenging. Sometimes the very things that we try to hold on to are the very things that the forces of nature try to eliminate. Each and every one of us has a purpose. On the road to discovery of self there are many distractions. Focusing on the negative can be the greatest roadblock. We all have shortcomings and sometimes fear is our greatest enemy. We fear not what we should and delve feet first in to things that we should fear. At times it seems like we lose sight of what is reality and concentrate solely on what our imagination perceives. There is a common ground to this way of thinking. As with anything In life; we should have order. An order in which we organize our thoughts and manifest them into reality. We must first determine our present circumstances. Each of us is acquainted with the terms of our situation. Do not fall into a belief that what worked for someone else will work for you. Define your goals on your own merit. Understand your abilities and limitations and you can achieve optimal results. I am sure that all of us have tried to mimic someone else’s path at one time or another. Very often you will find that the results will not be the same. The basis of this is that our blueprints are not made from the same architectural design. A series of buildings can share the same appearance on the outside, but each contains something unique within that sets them a part. In order to design your building, you must start with a plan, that helps to create a foundation. From that foundation you build on your strengths to help you turn your blueprint into a free standing structure that is capable of withstanding the pressures of the world. Never underestimate the power of faith and belief. Your perception of life controls the way you progress in life. Believing in yourself and your ability to move beyond present circumstance is key. Your approach to life should be one of true choice. A choice to press forward even when the forces are against you. Spend less time reflecting on yesterday and more time on the here and now. Understand that you are living in this moment and tomorrow is not promised. Live each day as if it were one day closer to a goal that you perceive to be obtainable. “Power, Potential and Purpose.......!” Many of us underestimate the powers within that allow us to seek higher development. Open your heart and mind and listen to your life. Your life speaks to you continuously through your subconscious. Accepting responsibility and embracing current circumstances is essential to progression. Learn to accept what you cannot change, and change what should not accept. Don’t allow fear of the unknown to alter your ability to move on to the next phase. Reclaim your power, accept the reality of your choices. It is not necessary to continuously endure the repercussions of a bad decision, surrender and move on. Trust and act on your intuition, and experience a profound sense of security that no relationship or amount of success will ever give you. Believe in your decisions and step out on faith to achieve them. After all, if you do not believe in yourself who will. We all have the potential to transform ourselves and our lives. Acknowledge your true potential, don’t set yourself up for failure, by measuring your life with others. We all have pre-determined paths that have been set before us. When you stand before the Mirror of Character, it is a true reflection of you and what you represent. Let not your living be in vain. Developing our purpose is essential to a fulfilled life. There are many moments of happiness, but joy is abundant in a life full of purpose. When you focus on what is “real”, you will find that pretentiousness has no place in your life. Find ways to define who you are through the way that you live. Don’t just talk about it, be about it. You have the Power to change your thinking, the potential to find your purpose and the capacity to change your life. You have been blessed with vision that grants you the ability to see beyond the moment. If you think it and believe it – you will be able to achieve it! -Your editor Lorie McEachin symbol of wisdom, ingenuity, intelligence and patience

2 . ATTITUDE!!.. “The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, education, money, circumstances, failures, successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, church or home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude….I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. And so it is with all of us….we are in charge of our Attitudes.” -Charles Swindoll “Strive for Balance in Your Life” Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself to others. It is because You are different that each of us is special. Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you. Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart, cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless. Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying. Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is the fragile thread that binds each of us together. Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave. Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it’s impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings. Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you’ve been, but also where you are going. Don’t forget that a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated. Don’t be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily. Don’t use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way. Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery and Today is a gift – that is why it is called the Present. -contributed by Debbie Widdoes, Fairhill, Maryland Many times in life we forget that it is the simple things in life that keep us well nourished. We must remember that planting seeds of faith, helps to enrich our lives and provides us with the minerals required for well-balanced nutrition – that is “Food for Our Soul”! - Lorie “Life’s Gifts” Life is a gift and each day we unravel yet another layer to find hidden treasures. It does not matter how fancy the packaging is or how mundane. What matters most is what we find at the core. It is there we find the strength to endure, the conviction to withstand, and the courage to let go. We find stories untold and lessons learned, values to stand on, morals to stand for, points to ponder, pressure to conform, decisions to confirm, reflection on days past and vision to see days ahead. Life reveals misunderstandings, insecurities, impurities, tragedies, successes and triumphs. Life offers responsibilities, reassurances, new discoveries and endless possibilities. Life is a continuous process of checks and balances. There are circumstances and situations; all of which shape us into the beings that we are. Life is a constant; it is a continuous flow of energies that connects us to the Earth. Our boundless ventures sometimes leave us feeling as if we are floating in space. We search for places to plant our flags and make monumental marks. That is what purpose does, it leaves a monumental mark on your place in this world. Each day you should be a part of the gift that keeps on giving. Life being the gift that it is, you should use yours to find a way to positively impact others. We all have something unique to offer and that asset is a part of our “Purpose Plan”. Don’t just walk through life existing, focus on living life to the fullest. Happiness is derived from your inner spirit and if you exude that emotion, those that remain in contact with you will be affected. Accept life for what it really is and understand that we are all on borrowed time, so make the best of your time. When your life speaks to you, listen and use that as an opportunity to become at one with yourself to tap into your Power, Purpose and Potential to make change – in You and the World - Lorie 2006 Events: The Color Purple - Musical From the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker, and the moving film by Steven Spielberg, comes a soul- stirring new musical and landmark Broadway event.
