4. FARMING IN THE SOUTH BEFORE CARVER The South only planted Cotton. The problem with cotton was that it was not worth a lot of money and farmers did not get rich from selling it. Problem: Demand for cotton was low/ Solution:??? What do you think would be the solution? Think sharecropping.

5. CARVER AND HIS WORK Carver researched and studied agriculture (farming) and came up with a way to grow peanuts and sweet potatoes in the south. Solution: Growing Peanuts and Sweet Potatoes were easier on the soil and they helped farmers make more money than selling cotton!
