5. Summary Act II: Chorus Purpose: Shakespeare uses a Sonnet to summarize for the audience Romeo’s transformation. Problem (first 12 lines): He is over Rosaline and now he loves Juliet. Romeo and Juliet will have to hide their love because of their feuding families. Solution (last 2 lines): Love will give them power to continue seeing each other.

6. Summary Act 2.1 Benvolio and Mercutio cannot find Romeo after the party. Mercutio yells into the night trying to summon Romeo by shouting Rosaline’s name. Benvolio eventually figures that Romeo will not be found if he doesn’t want to be found.
