6 The Tower of Babel – The unity of the human race was lost. What are some of the causes of divisions in our world today? How can the world be more united?  The whole world spoke the same language and considered themselves related.  God’s plan was to spread humanity across the earth.  Humans had fear of leaving each other, and resisted God’s plan.  They decided to stay in one place and build a great tower to live.  The Tower resembled a ziggurat, a series of smaller brick platforms stacked on top of each other.  God did not like humanity doing what they wanted. He decided to stop them by confusing their language.

7 The story of the Tower of Babel  Humans could not understand each other and so the unity of the human race was lost.  The human race began to become suspicious of each other. As a result of Babel, humanity broke up and not only spoke different languages, but developed different ways of living and communicating.  The process of populating the earth as God intended continued.
