2 Many of these pictures can be classified as more than one type of simple machine. Some of them can be classified as complex or compound machines. Students can sort them as they choose, but they should be able to justify their sorting. The names were added to clarify/identify the picture. Cut the pictures apart and place several in baggies for the students to sort. This is very helpful before the scavenger hunt as practice identifying simple machines. After the groups have sorted their bags, have the students bring them up and create a large picture graph of simple machines.
