2  H2 XELECT  “Group think” method of reading ◦ Students choose a text that appeals to them ◦ Students work to help each other understand various aspects of a text  Stepping stone to individual analysis

3  Groups of six, with roles determined by the group ◦ Discussion Director ◦ Adventurous Artist ◦ Character Captain ◦ Cool Connector ◦ Wacky Wordsmith ◦ Literary Luminary  Excess students will be drafted into groups as additional literary luminaries

4  Each group will choose two stories, and will decide in which order to discuss them in.  Stories can be found at mrdylitcirclestories.wordpress.com  Answer the relevant worksheet based on your role.  Each student must print out a copy of the story to be discussed and come to class with it.

5  Each role has a worksheet unique to that role.  Each student is expected to come to class with their worksheet already filled up  Answer the questions on the worksheet using full sentences. Explain your answers and use textual evidence to prove your point.  In addition to the worksheet, write a reader response paragraph of 5 to 8 sentences on a one whole sheet of paper, and staple it to the worksheet.

6  After each session (1 session/text), the group must compile their discoveries and present them via PowerPoint.  Discoveries are comprised of a summary of the text, a summary of the reader reactions, and the information from their respective role sheets.  Also include the plot breakdown of the text, and whether or not the story contained any significant symbolisms or ironies.
