2 WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE MAIN REASONS OF PLANE CRASHES? “HUMAN FACTORS” UNPLANNED EVENTS COMMUNICATION SUCCESS

3 HUMAN FACTORS GROUNDED- THIS IS WHEN A PILOT HAS TO HAVE 30 HOURS OF REST WITH 10 HOURS NOT IN THE AIRPLANE. FUEL  PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAGE/TANK THAT CAUSES THE FUEL TO NOT FILL PROPERLY, INCORRECT FUEL TYPE. ​ WEIGHT  TO MANY BAGS ON THE PLANE WHICH WEIGH IT DOWN, THAT CAUSES IT TO SLOW DOWN AND DESCEND KNOWLEDGE  THE PILOT HAS TO KNOW WHAT HE AND THE CREW IS DOING AT ALL TIMES. IF THEY DON’T THIS COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH THE RUNNING OF THE PLANE.

4 COLGAN AIR FLIGHT 3407 Pilot broke FAA travel rules and failed his training multiple times, on top of being fatigued.

5 U.S AIRWAYS FLIGHT 1549 Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger III and First Officer Jeff Skiles. They brought the Airbus A319 to a safe landing on the Hudson River after the jet lost both engines from goose strikes just after taking off from LaGuardia on Jan. 15, 2009.

9 COMMUNICATION RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PILOTS IF YOU HAVE 2 PILOTS THAT HAVE REALLY NEVER WORKED TOGETHER THEY COULD FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WITH ONE ANOTHER AND CAN CAUSE MANY ERRORS WITH THE PLANE.

UNCERTAINTY AVOIDANCE AMBIGUITY  VAGUE, NOT SPECIFIC/ UNCERTAINTY AVOIDANCE  SPECIFIC, STATING THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM TALK ABOUT THE DIFFERENT COUNTRIES THAT SHOW AMBIGUITY AND UNCERTAINTY AVOIDANCE MITIGATED SPEECH TALK ABOUT DIFFERENT CULTURES AND HOW IDEAS/EMERGENCIES ARE EXPRESSED.

11 COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE “MITIGATED SPEECH” EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: NEW YORK AIR CONTROLLERS ARE FAMOUS FOR BEING RUDE, AGGRESSIVE, AND BULLYING. THEY ARE ALSO VERY GOOD THEY HANDLE EMERGENCY THE WAY THEY NEED TO BE NEEDED. “IF YOUR LUGGAGE IS NOT FOUND ON THE CONVEYOR BELT, MOVE TO THE SIDE NOW’ NON-EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION: ON THE OTHER HAND YOU HAVE ASIAN AIR CONTROLLER WHO ARE NOT AS RUDE OR AGGRESSIVE. THEY DON’T HANDLE AN EMERGENCY THE WAY THEY SHOULD BE HANDLED. CANT EXPRESS THERE OPINION TO THERE ALDERS. “WE ARE RUNNING LOW ON FUEL.” MITIGATED SPEECH  WHEN YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY BUT YOU DON’T EMPHASIZE IT. EX: LACK OF FUEL OVER WE HAVE AN EMERGENCY
