(After Annual Conference)‏ Communion Title The Lesson on Providence Text 06/05/11 Text here: Mark 4:1 Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. Mark 4:2 And he taught them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them:

Breakfast on the Beach: Three Lessons Surrender to Providence

George Mueller: God will provide. "Our goal is to show the world and the Church that even in these last evil days, God is ready to help, comfort, and answer the prayers of those who trust in him"

John 20:30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

John 21:1 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias; and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together

John 21:3 Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat; but that night they caught nothing. 4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

John 21:5 Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." 6 He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, for the quantity of fish.

John 21:7 That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his clothes, for he was stripped for work, and sprang into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off.

John 21:9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire there, with fish lying on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.”11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty- three of them; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast."

This is familiar. "It is the Lord!" Jesus had done this before. What is the problem that this solves? John 21:5Luke 5:4 John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

Luke 5:4 And when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.“ 5 And Simon answered, "Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.“ 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a great shoal of fish; and as their nets were breaking, 7 they beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.

Luke 5:8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; henceforth you will be catching men.” 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

There will always be problems. (This one is for 9 th graders.) A man once came to Norman Vincent Peale…

Except here.

A few hours spent contemplating here may help us put our problems in perspective. Often, when we understand the problem, our new perspective allows us to see providence at work … as long as we are alive.

There will always be problems. There will always be people who can help you solve them. Who are they?

Sometimes God's answer to a problem is a person.

Providence is the way forward out of this present darkness. Look for the light. Look for God at work.

Never give up. (this is lava)

Never give up. But do surrender to God. Amazing things can happen when you do. Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. One Minute for God
