6 PTA Award Submission – due by March 1 The more specific examples provided, the better. Golden Acorn Will present up to 3 at the April General PTA meeting The PTA Golden Acorn Award is presented each year to people who have given exemplary volunteer service to the children at Arrowhead Elementary and our PTA. It is a very special award and is given for continued and dedicated service. This award is an excellent way to honor PTA members for their outstanding contributions and to celebrate the difference they make in our Arrowhead community. Honorary Life Membership Will present one award at the June General PTA meeting The purpose of the Honorary Life Membership is to recognize an individual who has contributed significantly to a PTA at the local unit, council, or state level. Outstanding Advocate Award Will present one award at the June General PTA meeting In 2004, the Washington State PTA established the Outstanding Advocate Award, a new statewide volunteer recognition program to recognize and honor individuals for their advocacy work on behalf of children and youth. This award can be given by a PTA unit, council, or region. Recipients receive a certificate and pin and a contribution is made in their name to the WSPTA Scholarship Program

7  Overage amount: $7,885  Past gifts to the school with overage have included:  $10k to the playground  $9k for the climbing wall  $5k for the drumming program PTA MISSION STATEMENT Arrowhead Elementary PTA will promote the welfare of all students, provide staff support, foster teacher and parent/community cooperation and enrich student learning. Overage Discussion – Angela Cummings

8 Past Readerboard Discussion Highlights ProsCons Provide more visible advertising of events and on-goings. Can’t place it up on Juanita Drive Help community to be aware of community events such as the Pancake Breakfast. If mounted on gym wall, it would be unsafe for PTA volunteers, teachers, and staff to load letters Help drivers to be more aware of the fact there is an elementary school at this location and potentially cause them to slow down. If mounted by current Arrowhead sign, it may create additional safety issues as drivers read text while entering parking lot. Provides a medium for advertising safety reminders such as ‘Please pull forward’ at drop off. Doesn’t contribute towards student enrichment or learning.

9 – Classroom Texts for all grades ($3,000 - $4,000) Fiction Non-fiction Magazines Digital Literacy/Online Subscriptions – Playground Tables ($700 - $1,000 each) Seeking 2-4 Without holes on surface ADA approved (e.g. wheelchair accessible) Note: Primary playground tarp holes will be fixed under warranty.
