5 In your notebook:  Energy is ___________________________  ( We learn by making mistakes!)

6 Energy is constantly changing forms.  Sunlight to plants to food to running.  Battery to light.  Wind to generator to electricity.  Sound to make an avalanche.

7 Activity – in table groups.  1) Will be done outside.  2) We will line up.  3) You will be give a container filled to the top with water.  4) Race to the tree.  5) Pour your water into the other container.  6) Return. Pour again.  7) Hand to partner.

8 The water in your activity represents energy.  Every time you change flasks, it is changing forms.  Observations during activity:  Is there any way you could prevent this from happening?  Is the water gone?  What happened to it?

9 For your notebooks:  Energy Flows: Energy is constantly changing forms. As it does, the amount of usable or useful energy decreases as heat floats off into the air.  THIS GOES IN YOUR NOTEBOOKS!
