5. Speak well  I will encourage students to speak as much as possible.  The more you speak the better I can correct the little mistakes.  Please don ’ t be shy!

6. Listen Well  There is a CD and I will be using it A LOT!  This will be where your homework will come from  The more you listen the easier it become. Sometimes you will have to listen 10 time to just one sentence.

7. Act Well  I hope that I can introduce some cultural aspects that might give you pause.  I want to make you feel safe when speaking with a native English speaker.  To do this I will have to explain what is acceptable behavior. (i.e. no hats inside)

8. Grading  The grading will be done as follows:  Attendance and participation 20%  Homework 10%  Quizzes20%  Midterm20%  Final 30%

9. Success!  I have three major suggestions for you to find success in my class.  1. Try- Everyone ’ s ability will be different; if you are great at English but don ’ t work hard, this will be bad. I will reward the student whose English is not as good but tries hard.  2. Don ’ t miss a lot of classes. I know emergencies happen, but I do take attendance and will know if you miss too much. Also, your grades will suffer.  3. Leave your pride at home. We will be doing lots of silly and fun activities and if you are worried about looking bad then you will not grow.

10. My Goals  My goal for myself is to better understand you, the students. Each of you is a person and each of you brings something different to the class. I must better understand you and your problems so that I can quickly and efficiently fix them
