Click on a part of the heart To learn more about it! When you have viewed them all, click next to continue. Click to Continue

A chamber of the heart, on the bottom left side of the heart. The left ventricle receives blood from the left atrium and pumps it into the aorta. The left ventricle is thick-walled and must be able to contract and relax rapidly. Blood going into the aorta from the left ventricle is oxygenated. LEFT VENTRICLE Choose Another Part

A chamber of the heart, on the bottom right side of the heart. It receives blood from the right atrium and pumps it into the pulmonary artery. Has a thinner wall than the left ventricle. Blood going into the pulmonary artery from the right ventricle is deoxygenated. RIGHT VENTRICLE Choose Another Part

A chamber of the heart, on the upper left side of the heart. It receives blood from the pulmonary, and pumps it into the left ventricle. Has an oblique vein, derives from the embryonic left superior vena cava. Blood going into the left ventricle from the left atrium is oxygenated. LEFT ATRIUM Choose Another Part

A chamber of the heart, on the upper right side of the heart. It receives blood from the vena cava and pumps it into the right ventricle. The opening on the right atrium is called the coronary sinus. It drains the myocardium (muscular tissue of the heart). Blood going into the right ventricle from the right atrium is deoxygenated. RIGHT ATRIUM Choose Another Part

AORTA The largest artery in the body. Originates from the left ventricle and extends down to the abdomen. The aorta distributes oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. Choose Another Part

An artery comprised of the superior and inferior vena cava. They return blood from the body back into the heart, And empty the blood into the right atrium. The blood that enters the heart through The vena cavae is deoxygenated. VENA CAVAE Choose Another Part

The pulmonary artery begins at the base of the right ventricle, and carries blood from the heart to the lungs. Can be the consequence of heart disease, as well as a number of lung diseases. The blood carried from the heart is deoxygenated. PULMONARY ARTERY Choose Another Part

Now that you know the basic components of the heart, let's test your knowledge! Click to Continue

Where does the left ventricle get its blood from? A. Left Atrium B. Aorta C. Right Atrium QUESTION 1

I’m sorry, that’s not correct! The left ventricle is not directly connected to the right atrium. Please try again! :) WHOOPS! Click to Go Back

I’m sorry, that’s not correct! The aorta does not specifically give blood to the left ventricle. Please try again! :) WHOOPS! Click to Go Back

That is the correct answer! The answer is indeed the left atrium! Click on the button to continue to the next question! CONGRATULATIONS! Click to Continue

When blood enters the Aorta, is it oxygenated or deoxygenated? A. Oxygenated A. Oxygenated B. Deoxygenated B. Deoxygenated QUESTION 2

I’m sorry, that’s not correct! The blood is not deoxygenated. Think of where the blood is coming from. Please try again! :) WHOOPS! Click to Go Back

That is the correct answer! The answer is indeed oxygenated! Click the button to continue to the last question! CONGRATULATIONS! Click to Continue

Which chamber of the heart has a coronary sinus? A. Left Atrium B. Right Atrium C. Right Ventricle QUESTION 3

I’m sorry, that’s not correct! The coronary sinus is on a right chamber, but not a ventricle. Please try again! :) WHOOPS! Click to Go Back

I’m sorry, that’s not correct! The coronary sinus is not on the atrium, but it is still on AN atrium. Please try again! :) WHOOPS! Click to Go Back

That is correct! The answer is the right atrium! Click next to continue. CONGRATULATIONS! Click to Continue

Real life footage of a heart pumping blood in a guy’s open chest. Pretty cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gnv54V8Jj1U VIDEO Click to Continue

That’s all folks! Any questions? THE END Back to Title Page
