2 ADHD Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Definition: A person has a hard time sustaining attention and completing tasks. Individuals are easily distracted and frequently interrupt others.

3 Opposing Views Currently there are two opposing views on whether ADHD is being over diagnosed in America. A government survey showed an increase in the amount of children being diagnosis of ADHD, claiming that around 1 in 5 boys have been diagnosed with ADHD (Koplewichz, 2013). “11 percent of children overall have been diagnosed with ADHD in the past year (Koplewichz, 2013, p.1).

4 Medication the amounts and prescriptions must be monitored to best help the child. Some critics believe that certain syptons used to diagnose ADHD are too closely matched to general behavioral characteristics of boys in general such as roughness and aggressiveness.

5 Boys vs Girls In ADHD cased about 70 percent of the children are boys while only 30 percent are girls (Bruchmuller, 2012).
