9 9 www.vita.virginia.gov Using NAIP – Urban Tree Canopy Analysis Virginia Department of Forestry High resolution landcover is integrated with planimetric datasets, such as buildings and roads, to determine the existing Urban Tree Canopy and possible Urban Tree Canopy Leaf on, infra-red photography is essential to accurately identify tree crowns (infra-red NAIP provides this) Collaboration with communities: VDOF provides landcover classification and advice, communities provide GIS data and goal setting process
