Recycling: Choices for your personal style By: Emily Stoner

Recycling Styles Are you a family that uses tons of bottles? Or are you a family that writes everything down on paper? With either one there is some material that you use all the time and is recyclable for when you are done with it. I know my family uses tons of cans, that is recyclable. If you don’t use a lot of any of those materials, chances are there is one for you.

Getting Started In the beginning when you are about to start recycling make a plan. Decide which recyclables you want to try using. If you decide you want to go out of order, than that is easy not having to feel like you need to work up step by step. Look at the example to the right. Add paper Recyclables Add plastic grocery bags Plastic recyclables

Working Up Say you don’t want to make a chart like that. There is another way also. If you feel like you need to have certain levels going up by difficulty, well than try this type of organizer to the right. Glass Cardboard Plastic Paper Plastic grocery bags

Organizing Style If you are an organized family than recycling should be easy and you will not need something to keep you on track. If you are unorganized however than all you have to do is make a chart like the one to the right and hang it on a wall or somewhere that it will never get moved. Trash and recycling bins Blue bin= plastic recyclables Gray bin (or whatever color your trash can is)= food or waste Red bin= paper recyclables

Spread the Word If this power point helps you with recycling than please spread the word this is an important message. This power point shows easy ways to remember the different recyclables and the bins they go in. It also shows ways to set a goal and work up to it in tiny steps. Tell lots of people just how easy recycling is as soon as you start!

Never Ending Recyclables Here is a list of many things that are recyclable: Electronics Paper Cardboard Metal Glass Plastics Batteries Bulbs Plastic Grocery Bags
