Marine Core Service MyOcean : Second Annual Meeting / 27-28 April 2011 / Roma Dev. & Maint. : main achievements n Maintenance of the V0 system n Integration of the V1 (stream 1) nominal system –New sub-system for the elaboration of the forcing fields (3-hourly) –New monitoring system + input observation QC system –New modelling and forecasting systems: regional nested into the global + other upgrades –Post processing to prepare the products (standard grids, regional tiling, …) –Integration of the MIS Gateway –Production of the technical documentation required –Transition of V1 into operation on operational computer resources n Integration of the backup V1 system –Archiving of NetCDF files –New post processing sub system –Output AMM BDY files for NEMO-SHELF –Integration of MIS Gateway –Production of the technical documentation required n Development of the CMCC PU for the dissemination of their reanalysis (Stream 2) n Preparation of the V2 system –Global 1/12, biogeochemistry, daily service + various upgrades, …

Marine Core Service MyOcean : Second Annual Meeting / 27-28 April 2011 / Roma Reminder from KO - Objectives for Production n Objectives –Perform system operation to continuously deliver quality ocean products in real-time –Produce reanalysis products for the altimeter period (1993  ) n Major issues –Transition to operational service (V0  V1) –To Monitor, control and prepare the input data (links with TACs and external data providers) –Ensure continuous production while system is upgraded (transition process, V0  V1  V2, link with WP2) –Monitor (and improve) the production process quality –Maintain product repository and archive –Monitor the OLAs (links with WP16 and regional MFCs)

Marine Core Service MyOcean : Second Annual Meeting / 27-28 April 2011 / Roma Production : main achievements n The V0 system has been operated regularly until its replacement by V1, delivering V0 services n The V1 system has been operated regularly since the end of last year, delivering V1 service –All the defined service processes are run since the launch of V1 service monitoring reporting, event, incident, change management… n Dissemination servers have been operated continuously (V0, V0/V1 parallel, V1) n Global reanalysis at ¼° (1992-2009) have been produced –3 reanalysis, 1 forced reference simulation, 1 L4 product based on the reprocessing of the observation (without assimilation) n V1 system operates as expected (availability and timeliness meet the specs) n No need to switch to the backup system have been identified

Marine Core Service MyOcean : Second Annual Meeting / 27-28 April 2011 / Roma Reminder from KO - Objectives for Cal / Val n Objectives –Continuously monitor product quality –Collect downstream components feedback n Main issues –Generalise and systematise the validation methodology developed in previous projects (Metrics) –Apply this methodology to the subsystem and its evolutions (verification/validation process, link with WP2) –Ensure the feedback loop between downstream subsystems and the global subsystem (adaptation, link with WP16 and regional MFCs) Fitness for purpose issue

Marine Core Service MyOcean : Second Annual Meeting / 27-28 April 2011 / Roma Cal/Val : main achievements n Calibration (i.e. Verification in the V cycle definition) –Done once for new products –Compute static error bars –Calibration plan (ScCP) Defines the methodology –Calibration report (ScCR) delivered for acceptance Applies the methodology defined n Validation (i.e. Validation in the V cycle) –Done regularly for the real-time products –Compare the results obtained with a pre-defined reference –Validation plan (ScVP) Defines the methodology –Validation Report (ScVR) delivered at the PRR Applies the methodology n ScCP and ScVP delivered for V1S1 and V1S2 acceptance n ScCR delivered for V1S1 and V1S2 acceptance n ScVR delivered for the PRR
