2 Childhood  Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron was born on Feb. 5, 1934 in Mobile, Alabama to Herbert and Estella Aaron.  He had seven siblings. His brother Tommie Aaron also went on to play Major League Baseball.  Hank grew up picking cotton which many people think helped him hit so many homeruns.  He grew up in a poor family. They couldn’t afford baseball equipment, so he practiced by hitting bottle caps with sticks.

3 Growing Up  He also played football and had several football scholarship offers that he turned down to play baseball.  At 15, he tried out with the Brooklyn Dodgers, but he didn’t make the team.  During his junior year, Hank joined the Mobile Black Bears and earned $10 per game.
