2. CHANGE: What Are Examples Of “Performance”? Mrs. Green prayed for me Kathy and Stella provided a partial scholarship to seminary Charlie and Carol Stout provided me with family Annette saw some clothing being tossed out after it did not sell at a yard sale and wondered if there would be a better use. She started a clothes closet ministry through her church. Orlo was a grocery store manager in a small grocery for 20 years and retired and started one of the largest food cupboards in his church in Seattle.

Raymond fixed cars for widows for the cost of parts in the name of Jesus. Will became the handyman also for widows, in the name of Jesus. Billy became a driver for Meals on Wheels, in the name of Jesus. Though young, Janice devoted 4 hours a week to church ministries. Three workmen decide to paint one house free each year for a family in their community. Don helped with remedial reading for students in elementary school up the street.

2b. CHANGE: What Are Examples Of “Performance”? What is needed today? Brothers in faith sharing life with students, women of faith doing the same. But I don’t know what to do? Do what you know to do. Gardening, cooking, reading, technology (trade with them), sewing, basic budgeting. Woodworking, carving, auto maintenance, fixing things & showing how things work, Small group singing, playing an instrument. Bible reading, practicing the presence of Jesus, spend a night in prayer, learning how to deal with fear.

3a. CHANGE: Should We Improve “Performance”? Eph. 4:11-13 It was he who gave… to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Build, Edify. Feed, fuel, Repair the broken Find the mission, the call Identify the purpose, the design Focus on strengths

3b. CHANGE: Should We Improve “Performance”? Eph. 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; Eph. 4:16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. 1Co 8:1b We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

4. CHANGE: What Does It Take Improve “Performance”? 1. Exercise your soul every day. Ro 14:19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 2. Make sure you are powered/enabled by His grace. Eph. 3:7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. 3. Make it your goal to build up the one you’re with. Eph. 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk (useless or demeaning) come out of your mouths, but ONLY what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 2Co 13:10 …the authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.
