1 Forest Park High School 2010-2011 NCAA National Collegiate Athletic Association Eligibility Workshop

2 Clearing house Registration You must register with the NCAA if you intend to play any collegiate sport. Forms are available online ( www.eligibilitycenter.org) www.eligibilitycenter.org Forms must be complete and submitted prior to admission. It is the students responsibility to list and request an official transcript from every high school attended and to turn Clearinghouse forms in by the deadline. Seniors are encouraged to register for the clearinghouse in the fall. Students should bring forms: Release copy transcript to Mrs. Miller in guidance for transcript requests. This form must be signed by athlete and parents.

3 Eligibility Standards Division I 16 Core Classes 4 years of English 3 years of Math (Algebra I or higher) 2 years of natural or physical science (including 1 year of lab if offered by high school) 1 extra year of English, math, or natural or physical science 2 years of social science 4 years of extra core courses( from any category above offering above,or foreign language non doctrinal religion or philosophy) Division II 14 Core Classes 3 years of English 2 years of Math ( Algebra I or higher) 2 years of natural or physical science (including 1 year of lab if offered by high school) 2 additional years of English, math, or natural or physical science 2 years of social science 3 years of extra core courses( from any category above, or foreign language, non doctrinal religion or philosophy

4 Core Course GPA Requirement Division I Earn a minimum required grade-point average in your core courses Division II Earn a 2.0 grade- point average or better in your core courses

5 Core Courses A core course must: Be an academic course in one or a combination of these areas: English, mathematics, natural/physical science, social science, Foreign language, nondoctrinal religion or philosophy; Be a four year college preparatory; Be at or above you high school’s regular academic level( no remedial, special ed or compensatory courses); and Be completed not later than the high school graduation date of your class.

6 SAT/ACT Requirements Division I Earn a combined SAT or ACT sum score that matches your core-course grade- point average and test score sliding scale Division II Earn a combined SAT score of 820 and an ACT sum score of 68

7 Examples All students must take the SAT or ACT exam The higher the GPA: the lower the required SAT/ACT score Example 1: A student with a 2.550 will need an 800 SAT score and a 66 ACT score to be NCAA eligible. Example 2: A student with a 2.00 will need a 1010 SAT score and an 86 ACT score to be NCAA eligible.

8 Important Change All SAT and ACT scores must be reported to the Eligibility Center directly from the testing agency. Test scores will not be accepted if reported on a high school transcript. When registering for the SAT or ACT, input the Eligibility Center code of 9999 to make sure the score is reported.

10 Taking mulitple tests You may take the SAT or ACT more than one time. You may use your best subscore from the different test to meet the test-score requirements. SAT(10/09) 350470820 SAT (12/09)420440860 Scores used420470890

11 Your test score will continue to be calculated using the math and verbal/critical reading subsections of the SAT. The ACT scores used will be the math, science, English and reading subscores. The Writing component will not be used to determine your qualifier status.
