Week 11 Hands on Flash Pelekanou Olga INF221 INTRODUCTION TO MULTIMEDIA

Objectives Learn to identify and use the basic commands associated with this popular application. Recognize the importance of Flash documents and movies: the stage and the timeline. Define how to create and import artwork. Learn to identify and use movie clip symbols and animated graphic symbols; masked layers; Sound and video in Flash

Stage in Flash The Stage displays your animations, images, and other content. It is the area visible to users after you publish or export a finished project. The Stage pasteboard is the light-gray area around the Stage. –The contents of the Stage pasteboard are not visible to users when you export or publish your projects. – It is possible to place objects here and animate them onto the Stage so they enter and exit from offstage. – It is possible to store objects with no graphic representation, such as data elements, on the Stage pasteboard, keeping the Stage uncluttered.

The Document Window

Document Properties

Timeline The Timeline controls all the elements in a project file, including layers, frames, the play-head, and the status bar. By default, the Timeline is docked above the Stage, but you can unlock and move the Timeline to any location onscreen.

The Layer Controls The Timeline’s layer controls play an important role in your workflow. As you add layers, the artwork on the top-most layer in the Timeline stacks on top of artwork on lower layers. At any time, it is possible to rearrange the stacking order of the artwork by dragging and dropping the layers in the layer controls area.

The Layer Controls The following list explains the layer controls in more detail: –Layer name: The default layer names are Layer 1, Layer 2, and so on. Double-click a layer name to rename it. Give your layers short, descriptive names to help you easily identify the contents on each layer.

The Layer Controls –Insert Layer button: Click this button to add new layers to your projects. Each time you add a new layer, it is automatically created on top of the currently selected layer.

The Layer Controls –Add Motion Guide Button: Click this button to add a guide layer on top of the currently selected layer. A guide layer contains objects you can animate along a path drawn on the guide layer.

Στρώματα(layers)

How to Add a Layer Click Insert Layer Folder Button to create a layer folder. –Layer folders help you organize your layers into groups that you can easily expand and collapse. To add a new layer click Insert Layer Button. Or use the command Insert > Timeline > Layer to add a new layer upon the current one.

Simple Techniques of Drawing. Drawing of some Simple Objects To draw objects in Flash use The Toolbar. –The Toolbar contains tools for creating and editing artwork. –Each of the main tools has a n associated keyboard shortcut, which is listed in parentheses next to the tool name. –When you hover over a toolbar icon, a small tooltip appears with the name and keyboard shortcut for the tool. –Complex objects can be drawn as the combination of simple objects.

Simple Techniques of Drawing. Using the Oval and Rectangle Tools. The Oval and Rectangle tools are ideal for creating geometric shapes, such as ovals, circles, rectangles, and squares. It is possible to create simple shapes with independent lines and fills quickly and effortlessly.

Simple Techniques of Drawing. Drawing of some Simple Objects Draw two rectangles. Follow the steps: 1.Select the Tool Rectangle from The Toolbar. 2.Click an icon Round Rectangle Radius to open a window Rectangle Settings. 3.In this case set corner radius to 0 points.
