2 Health and Wellness for all Arizonans Background CA WIC Baby Behaviors Project - Focus – Increase breastfeeding & decrease obesity CA WIC TOTT Project - Focus – Increase breastfeeding, decrease inappropriate feeding and decrease obesity

3 Health and Wellness for all Arizonans Background (cont’d) Arizona WIC TOTT Project – Test revised messages from CA WIC TOTT - Focus – Increase breastfeeding, decrease inappropriate feeding, decrease obesity, and increase retention of children on the WIC Program

4 Health and Wellness for all Arizonans Overview UC Davis staff will provide: - refresher training on Baby Behavior knowledge and skills - training in Older Infants and Toddlers and messaging to participants -telephone consultation and support via phone/webinars to staff - evaluation, data analysis and reports

5 Health and Wellness for all Arizonans Overview (cont’d) Local Agencies: - Receive training on Toddler Behavior -Provide Two clinics in their agency that will participate in the study -Help recruit participants to the study

6 Health and Wellness for all Arizonans Criteria For Participation - Clinic size – 2500 or more *Need 500 toddlers per clinic - No staff overlap between the two clinics - Low staff turnover - Staff allow to be filmed – LMS

7 Health and Wellness for all Arizonans TOTT Timeline Federal Fiscal YearEvent(s) Jan 2015UC Davis contract and OA funding; solicit Local agency participation (Two agencies – 4 clinics) Feb – Mar 2015 Initial planning discussion April – July 2016 Survey, focus groups, training, implementation Aug – Nov 2016 Evaluation and Revision of Materials December 2016 Final report and training of control clinics * indicates years with heavy involvement of local agencies

8 Health and Wellness for all Arizonans Evaluation Evaluation Components Include: Participant surveys (online) and focus groups WIC staff surveys Breastfeeding rates Overweight/Obesity rates Retention rates
