Production status Preparation for HI running ALICE TF+AF November 14, 2010

2 Running status Stable, the dip is a production cycle change

3 Production cycles Pb+Pb – mb + centrality bins RAW LHC10f Pass2 of LHC10d – imminent MC for LHC10d – imminent In general – nothing to report here

4 Issues - memory

5 Issues – memory (2)

6 Memory limiter in the JA code We need it urgently to be able to put the brakes on a situation like (slide 5) The default parameter must be ‘hidden’ and we do not make the command to override it public Ideally in AliEn v.2-19, but a patch in v.2-18 is acceptable

7 Preparation for the HI run 21 days in November (after 05/11) to December (end of run 06/12) Data rate – up to 2.5GB/sec (presently 150MB/sec) The above is the big difference with respect to pp (for the Offline/Grid processing)

8 Data flowchart CASTOR RAW export to T1s DAQ buffer@P2 200 TB 2.5GB/sec max 216TB/day max t0alice 2.3PB 2.5GB/sec max Tape 2PB total alicedisk 2.3PB 2.5GB/sec max delayed copy through xrd3cp 250MB/sec max Pass 1@T0 280MB/sec max

9 Effect on processing RAW data – exclusively Pass1@T0 We will likely not reconstruct any p+p at that time MC – business as usual… Analysis – sharp rise expected Memory might be an issue…

10 AliEn v.2-19 or updates of v.2-18 Loose list, no strategic items (my preferences) Memory limiter JobOptimiser – skip check for files ‘Instant’ file quotas with data deletion table
