SNAKES By Haley Seiler

Snakes have the same body parts as us, but they’re arranged differently.

Some snakes glide from trees by spreading out their scales. Some non-venomous snakes imitate (look like) venomous snakes, so predators will not eat them. “Red touches yellow, nasty fellow. Red touches black, friendly Jack.”

Snakes eat their food whole. They don’t chew it. They usually eat mice.

When snakes shed their scales (skin) only the thinnest outer layer comes off. Could you please not leave your old skins lying around the house? Uh Oh!

I got my ideas from: The “Snakes” Zoobooks magazine at our library.
