What does it mean to have a reverence for God? n How does another generation keep this kind of respect?

What does it mean to have a reverence for God? n How does another generation keep this kind of respect? n Each generation had to be taught to “know the Lord.” (Jer 31:34)

What does it mean to have a reverence for God? n Jeremiah 31:34 34 "No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. 32 What does it mean to have a reverence for God? n This must involve substantial teaching at different levels. That teaching must be renewed throughout one’s life.

How Reverence is taught in the home. n You cannot pass down a faith that you do not have. (Micah 7:5-7)

How Reverence is taught in the home. n Micah 7:5-7 5 Do not trust in a friend; Do not put your confidence in a companion; Guard the doors of your mouth From her who lies in your bosom. 6 For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man's enemies are the men of his own household.

How Reverence is taught in the home. n 7 Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.

How Reverence is taught in the home. n The Pharisee’s had a “faith” that they effectively passed down. (Lk 12:1)

How Reverence is taught in the home. n Luke 12:1 In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

How Reverence is taught in the home. n How many of the untrustworthy father’s worshipped God?

How Reverence is taught in the home. n Even when a man has a strong faith in God, that does not mean he will successfully pass that to His children.

How Reverence is taught in the home. n Children can see what is really in our hearts. Consider what God wanted with future generations in teaching their children. (Josh 4:4-7)

How Reverence is taught in the home. n Joshua 4:4-7 4 Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the children of Israel, one man from every tribe; 5 and Joshua said to them: "Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel,

How Reverence is taught in the home. n 6 "that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, 'What do these stones mean to you?' 7 "Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.“

How Reverence is taught in the home. n Divorce and dishonesty destroyed their hearts. (Mal 2:13-16)

How Reverence is taught in the home. n Malachi 2:13-16 - And this is the second thing you do: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears, With weeping and crying; So He does not regard the offering anymore, Nor receive it with goodwill from your hands. 14 Yet you say, "For what reason?" Because the LORD has been witness Between you and the wife of your youth, With whom you have dealt treacherously; Yet she is your companion And your wife by covenant.

How Reverence is taught in the home. n 15 But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth. 16 "For the LORD God of Israel says That He hates divorce, For it covers one's garment with violence," Says the LORD of hosts. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.“

How Reverence is taught in the home. n How can one teach God’s ways in such a home?

How Reverence is taught in the home. n How can one teach God’s ways in such a home? n Sadly, it is much easier to give your children to Satan.
