2 “The Still, Small Voice of God” Introduction Elijah at Horeb. –While he was alone in the cave, possibly thinking that he was forsaken, God asked him, 9 “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:9). 3 “The Still, Small Voice of God” –The question “What are you doing here, Elijah?” was an appeal to the conscience. 3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. 7 “The Still, Small Voice of God” 11 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. (1 Kings 19:11)
