2 Research topic: Drug abuse Research question: a. What is drug abuse? b. Why do teenagers abuse drugs? c. What are the bad effect of using drugs? d. How can teenagers, parents and government help teenagers to stay away from drugs?

3 Reasons why we were interested in this topic “drug abuse” : We read from the newspaper that many people abused drugs in discos and Night Clubs, most of them are teenagers. We think that the problems of teens abusing drugs is getting more and more serious, so we hope to research more on teenagers abuse drugs while doing this project because we’re teens too.

6 Research question 1: a. What is drug abuse? Literature review (summary) Not taking drugs/ medicine according to specified portion or doctor’s medical treatment Cocaine, heroin, marijuana and amphetamines.

7 Research question 2: b. Why do teenagers abuse drugs? Literature review (summary) Four main reasons: 1.Curiosity 2.Hope to meet more friends 3.Teenagers are rebellious 4.They are even tempted to take free drugs

Literature review (summary) 1.Academy: Teenagers’ homework cannot be done well 2.Relationship: stay away from friends and family 3.Health-(i)Physical (ii)Mental problems (i) Health deteriorate ( 健康狀況毎況愈下 ) -get sick easily(high blood pressure, illusions etc.) (ii)-not interested in doing everything except abusing drugs -body is tired all the time

12 D2. How can parents help teenagers stay away from drugs? Literature review (summary) Communicate with their children more Teach them drug is bad to their life Create a good family relationship

13 D3. How can government help teenagers to stay away from drugs? Legislation: -listing more kinds of dangerous drugs into management lists. Education: - Increase the knowledge of teenagers about the bad effects of abusing drugs through exhibitions and advertisement. Literature Review: Summary

14 Questionnaire: What do you think parents, teenagers and the government can do to prevent teenagers from abusing drugs? Parents:Communicate more with their children Teenagers: avoid making bad friends Government: -Legislation: restrict the selling of drugs by increasing the penalty -Education: make use of exhibitions which give advertising and information about drugs. -Support: Put more resources on helping drug addicts which do not need going to rehabilitation centers yet.
