Rice Scenario in Manipur In the field of rice production, the State has made significant advance. The average productivity of rice has reached 2642 Kg/ha. during 2011-12 against the National average of 2177 kg/ha during 2010-11. Manipur Ranked VIII in yield producing 2369 kg/ha of rice during 2006-07 as reported by Directorate of Rice Development, Patna, GoI. The State is leading in rice productivity in the North Eastern States of India.. 1,95,000 ha. of land are annually brought under rice cultivation in the State. There is a potentiality of more areas to be brought under pre-kharif paddy with the introduction of Farm Ponds for sustainable agriculture.
