5 Rice Scenario in Manipur  In the field of rice production, the State has made significant advance.  The average productivity of rice has reached 2642 Kg/ha. during 2011-12 against the National average of 2177 kg/ha during 2010-11.  Manipur Ranked VIII in yield producing 2369 kg/ha of rice during 2006-07 as reported by Directorate of Rice Development, Patna, GoI.  The State is leading in rice productivity in the North Eastern States of India..  1,95,000 ha. of land are annually brought under rice cultivation in the State.  There is a potentiality of more areas to be brought under pre-kharif paddy with the introduction of Farm Ponds for sustainable agriculture.
