 I am an average High School student.  I like playing video games.  I am presenting a power point on Aldebaran.  You are going to listen to my PowerPoint on Aldebaran.  You will learn from my PowerPoint on Aldebaran.

 The word Aldebaran is Arabic for "Follower" because it rises after the Pleiades. The Pleiades is a group of 6 stars traveling together through space. The eye of the constellation Taurus, the bull.  It is also the brightest star in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. 13th brightest star in the night sky (apparent visual magnitude = 0.9)

 It is 50 times the size of the sun. Would almost fill out to the orbit of Mercury.  It is 360 times the sun's luminosity (Mv=-0.49)  Aldebaran is the 14 th brightest star.  The reason you should care is because it is a star, and you don’t ignore stars! >:D

 Apparent Magnitude = -2.10  Absolute Magnitude = −0.63  Matthew’s Magnitude = Somewhere out there in space! :3

 Aldebaran has appeared or been mentioned in many Star Trek episodes.  "Where No Man Has Gone Before" (1966)  "Amok Time" (1967)  "Hide and Q" (1987)  "Relics" (1992)  "Anomaly" (2003)  It also appears in much more, but I have limited room. 

 In 1993, radial velocity measurements of Aldebaran, Arcturus and Pollux showed that Aldebaran exhibited a long-period radial velocity oscillation, which could be interpreted as a substellar companion.  In other words, there may be a substellar companion, but we have no proof! 

 Mexican culture: For the Seris of northwestern Mexico, this star is providing light for the seven women giving birth.

 A projected equatorial rotation velocity of 5.2 kilometers per second gives the star a rotation period that could be as long as 400 days.  It is good to view October through March from the Northern middle latitudes.  It is 72 light years away.

 It is off of the main sequence line of the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram  If Aldebaran were in our Solar System, it would extend halfway to the planet Mercury and would appear 20 degrees across in our sky, its great luminosity making life on Earth quite impossible.

 Aldebaran is a mystery..  Aldebaran is easy to research..  Aldebaran is a boss!  Because Aldebaran is Aldebaran!  Chuck Norris lives on Aldebaran.
