6. Life on Earth has a history of change called evolution. Evolution of living organisms is revealed in the Geologic Time Scale. It is a calendar of Earth’s history based on fossil evidence found in rocks and climate evidence in ice cores. TIME PERIODS ARE DIVIDED BY MAJOR EVENTS, NOT DATES Smaller divisions in the scale are distinguished by the appearance of new forms of lifeorganisms that lived during each time period. Fossils provide the evidence of these changes.
