John Langdon Down is the first man who wrote a description of the condition in 1866. It got it’s name from Mr. Down. In 1959 professor Jérome Lejeune proved that it is a chromosomal irregularity.

Most of the time, it is not passed down from parents. It is caused by a mistake in cell division during development. There is usually only a 1% chance the child will get it. If the mother is older, there is a higher chance.

No cure Can be detected before the child is born 50/50 chance they could have children Their genes slow down the growth of cancer.
