2 This type of Pygmy Owl is a small bird, 17 cm and weighing 60 to 62g.The colour of this type Pygmy owls crown is lightly streaked. It eats birds, lizards, insects, small mammals, frogs and earthworms. Characteristics

3 It’s bill is yellow to greenish or greyish- yellow. They are partly nocturnal and diurnal. They breed like other pygmy owls. They nest in a natural cavity in trees, stumps, in old woodpecker holes, tree forks and occasionally in a sand bank or termite mounds. The breeding season for this species is from early April and lasts as late mid June

4 This Owl lives in desert habitats of southern Arizona in the south-western United States and north-west of Mexico. There are about 30-50 left in the state of Arizona!
