2 Age Discrimination or Not? If the Bureau of Labor Statistics that 24% of all sales people in the last census were 55 or older, then was this an example of age discrimination? How could you find out?

3 Conduct a SIMULATION! What’s the Problem that we are investigating? Whether or Not more salespeople 55 or older were fired What are the assumptions that we must make? A salesperson is: (a) younger than 55 or (b) 55 or older

4 Calculator Instructions Assume that 24% of all sales people in the last census were 55 or older. If 100 people were fired, then what is the likelihood of being 55 and older and fired? randInt (first digit, last digit, number of trials)

5 Tennis Anyone? Professional tennis players bring multiple racquets to each match. They know that high string tension, the force with which they hit the ball, and occasional “racquet abuse” are all reasons why racquets break during a match. There is a 15% chance of breaking a racquet in a given match. How many matches, on average, could a player expect to play until he breaks a racquet and needs to use a backup?

6 The Airport Van Your company operates a van service from Midway to Downtown Chicago. 25 times out of 100 (25%) of passengers don’t show up. If you allow 9 reservations for each van, what is the probability that more than 7 passengers will appear?
