SPI 0501.1.9 Select the most appropriate method to correct a run-on sentence (i.e., conjunctions, semicolons, periods to join or separate elements) within context.

2 Complete Sentences 1. A complete sentence tells a complete thought and has both a subject and a predicate. My class sold many boxes of candy.

3 Fragments 2. A fragment is a group of words that lacks a subject and a predicate. The wind inside a tornado.

4 Run-on Sentences 3. A run-on sentence is two or more complete sentences that run together. A tornado can be called a twister it is also called a cyclone.

5 Comma Splices 4. A comma splice is a comma that joins two independent clauses. A clause is a group of words that have a subject and a predicate. Robert ate worms, Mary dislikes Robert.
