2 Writing Percents as Decimals
Remove the percent symbol. Then divide by 100, or just move the decimal point two places to the left. Example: 23% = 23.% = 0.23

3 Writing Decimals as Percents
Multiply by 100, or just move the decimal point two places to the right. Then add a percent symbol. Example: 0.36 = 0.36 = 36%

4 Percent and Fractions Since percents means per 100, to write p% as a fraction, use p as the numerator and 100 as a denominator. Then simplify. Example: Write 25% as a fraction Write 3 8 as a percent

5 Circle Graphs Students in a class were asked to tell their favorite color. a. What percent said red, blue, or yellow? b. How many times more students said red than yellow? c. Use two methods to find the percent of students who said green. Which method do you prefer?
