3 University Update Entrance Requirements U of M Criteria 1.One credit of Grade 12 S or U English with a minimum grade of 60%. and 2.A minimum average of 70% over three Grade 12 S. NB: less than 70% average will limit the students ability to access certain courses as well as limit the student to 24 credit hours in their first year Direct Entry 85% no less than 60% over 3 specified courses

4 Out of Province University Entrance Requirements  University entrance requirements vary from university to university  Check the entrance requirements for these universities using the internet.  Speak to your counsellor if you need to make a course change  Students have encountered problems for NOT checking out the out of province requirements

7 Scholarships  Academic Standing/Grades This varies form scholarship to scholarship so students need to check these details out before beginning the process. The more national the scholarship the greater the competition.  Community Service What special services have you provided to the greater community outside of school life?  Extra-Curricular Commitment The after 3:15 crowd..drama, student council, sport, yearbook, newspaper etc..  Cultural Affiliation Special scholarships exist for culturally active students in Italian, Pilipino, Polish, Aboriginal, Scandinavian to name a few

13 University?  90% of SPHS graduates go on to university study  University is not the only option  Travel, work-study programs, working for a year, colleges, technical trades, armed forces, apprentice programs are just a few of the many options

14 Your Future It really depends on you. How motivated are you? Your ability to put in the time required to see “what is out there”, what is available to you in terms of finances, scholarships, choices of post-secondary institutions, and further career opportunities.
