3 What’s been going on in the MYP at Richard Montgomery and Julius West? The IB evaluates MYP schools every five years. The evaluation process assesses schools’ implementation of the MYP on the Program Standards and Practices. 11 From the MYP Standards and Practices “Collaborative planning and reflection ensures that all teachers have an overview of students’ learning experiences” (C1.1a) “The units of work are documented on unit planners and follow the Middle Years Programme planning process” (C2.1d) In implementing a program that adheres to the MYP standards and practices, we can ensure that all of our students have access to the benefits of the MYP model of instruction. Why is this important?

12 IB Access – A Worldwide Commitment The IB aims to create and provide access opportunities so that more students are able to benefit from a high quality, international educational experience. The IB seeks to proactively engage like-minded donors, schools, universities, non-governmental organizations, and ministries to develop specialized educational programmes that promote concept-based, student-centered, and internationally-minded education. From the IB Strategic Plan – Goal 3 Develop a more diverse, inclusive IB community by enabling access to an IB education regardless of personal circumstances Why is this important? By working with communities, countries and regions where there is a clear and credible commitment to educational change, the IB can achieve a more socioeconomically, geographically, culturally and linguistically varied community.
