3 Sweden Goal: Explain how Sweden and Switzerland are similar Sweden and Switzerland are neutral countries; meaning that they do not take sides in war. ___________________________________ Read about Greenland.

4 Denmark and Greenland Goal: Identify Denmark’s island in North America Greenland is part of North America, but it is owned by Denmark. Greenland relies heavily on imports and economic aid (money and jobs) from Denmark

5 Iceland Formed from volcanoes as tectonic plates spread apart. (mid Atlantic ridge is an underwater mountain range) Iceland uses geothermal energy to heat homes, melting glaciers to produce hydroelectric energy. Iceland is one of the least polluted places on Earth.

6 Norway Goal: Predict how the economy of Northern Europe might be affected over the next century. Norway’s oil and gas fields are drying up. Exports have declined. This could drastically hurt Northern Europe’s and Norway’s economy; causing many people to lose their jobs.
