8  Formula Bar: Displays a cell’s contents and allows you to change a cell’s contents  Active Cell: The selected cell. There are many cells on an Excel spreadsheet. Each cell holds a piece of information. Each cell on your spreadsheet has a unique letter(s) and number. The selected cell in the picture above is A1. (column A, row 1)

9 Active Cell ( Continued): A cell can contain 3 types of data:  A value (such as a number, date, or time)  A formula to perform a calculation  Text Spreadsheet: Your workspace on this computer program. Workbook: The total project.

10 How to move from cell to cell:  The Down Arrow Key moves downward one cell at a time  The Up Arrow Key moves upward one cell at a time  The Left Arrow Key moves left one cell at a time  The Right Arrow Key moves right one cell at a time  The Tab Key also moves to the right one cell at a time  Holding down the Shift Key and the Tab key moves to the left one cell at a time.

11 The Name Box You can also use the Name Box to go to a specific cell.  Click inside the name box  Type the cell address you would like to go to and  Press Enter.

12 F5 is the “Go To” key.  If you press the F5 key, you are prompted for the cell to which you wish to go.  Enter the cell address you wish to go move to.  Press Enter and the cursor will jump to that cell. Ctrl + G = WORKS JUST LIKE THE F5 KEY
