2. The Problem Many RIT departments lack the skills and/or resources to generate RSS-compatible news feeds for use in the myRIT web portal. News portlet content must be owned and managed by the departments; data source cannot reside in a central location. Departments have varying degrees of technical aptitude; some may only have marginal web/HTML experience. Departments may have different tastes and usability preferences; possible challenge finding a solution that provides unilateral appeal.

Prometheus will retrieve news feeds from RSS document via URL for display in the myRIT portal; knows when feed is updated.
