Row 1, Col 1 What are the roots? This plant part takes in water and minerals for the plant. It also helps hold the plant in the ground.

1,2 What are seeds? All plants begin as this.

1,3 What is the wind? If a seed scatters this way, it will be light weight. It will have a parachute or wings to help it travel.

1,4 What is a seed coat? This part of the seed protects it from the weather

2,1 What is a flower? This plant part makes seeds, fruit, and pollen for the plant.

2,2 What is germinate? This word means start to grow. When a seed is in this life cycle stage, it has tiny roots and a tiny stem.

2,3 What is sticks to animals? If a seed has spikes or thorns, how does it most likely travel?

2,4 What are water, sunlight, soil, and space? Name the four things plants need to survive.

3,1 What is holds up the plant and carries water from the roots to the leaves? Describe what the stem does for the plant.

3,2 A seedling has tiny leaves, Roots, and a stem. Describe what plant parts can be seen when a plant is a seedling.

3,3 What is a hard shell to protect it from filling with water? Describe the traits of a seed that travels by water.

3,4 What is a seed leaf? What is the name of the seed part that gives the tiny seed food?

4,1 Leaves make food for the plant The leaves take in carbon dioxide Through tiny holes. The leaves let oxygen out through tiny holes. What do leaves do for the plant?

4,2 What is seed, germinate, seedling, adult plant? Tell the life cycle stages in order.

4,3 What is found in fruit? If a seed is eaten by an animal, what traits does it have that help it get eaten?

4,4 A fossil is a plant pressed in mud. The mud hardens to rock. The fossil is left behind. How is a fossil formed?

5,1 Roots suck in water, stem holds the plant up and carries water, leaves make food, and the flower makes seeds and pollen. Name and describe the four main plant parts.

5,2 What is a young (or tiny) plant? What does seedling mean?

5,3 Wind, water, stuck to animals, eaten by animals. Name the four ways that seeds can travel.

5,4 Coniferous plants grow cones to make seeds. They do not lose their leaves in winter. Their leaves are spiky. Deciduous leaves grow flowers to makes seeds. They lose their leaves in the winter. Their leaves are smooth or flat. Define and describe coniferous and deciduous plants.
