3. Enter your login details

4. Type MA and press Enter

5. Mergers and Acquisitions Overview

6. Click 96) Advanced Search

7. Click 11) Date Range

8. Change Date Range to Custom

9. Change Start Date to 2009

10. Click Announced Date

11. Click 1) Update

12. Click 1) Results

13. Shows summary of all mergers within that period

14. Click 25) Deal List

15. Shows List of Deals

16. Acquisitions: Target and Acquirer Names

17. Divestitures: Target, Acquirer and Seller Names

18. Click on 99) Edit Columns

19. Use this to add variables

20. Click Price Valuation Ratios

21. Click Target Price/EBITDA

22. Click Description

23. Click Acquirer Ticker

24. Click Target Ticker

25. Click 1) Update

26. Click 98) Output -> Excel

27. Wait for download to complete

28. From Windows Menu Click Install Excel Add-In

29. Press Install

30. Click OK

31. Click Microsoft Excel 2010

32. Need to include the word Equity in Ticker Name

33. Add Equation =J2&” Equity”

34. Copy cell and paste for all companies

35. Can now use Ticker to look up data

36. File -> Save As -> 07b-datacompleted.xlsx

37. Challenge Download data on any mergers which took place between 2007 and 2009 Obtain the Ticker symbol for each company
