3. Why these issues? o Change really isn’t because of SB 1857, but because traditionally providers and DADS weren’t following the TAC rules mandated by the BON o Allows providers to continue to use unlicensed staff to give medication o Allows providers to continue to use LVN’s on call

7. PAC as the CRA o Provider advocate committee acting as the Client Responsible Adult o Develop as part of implementation plan o Nurse/service coordinator/CEO designee o Mandated form on DADS website

8. ICF changes o RN’s must do initial and annual comprehensive assessments o RN’s must do IDT meetings pertaining to above assessments and nursing service plans o Quarterly nursing physical exams o LVN supervision o Training of individuals and staff by nurses o Different timeframe for assessments

Training o RN responsible for medication training of unlicensed staff o RN responsible for competency of unlicensed staff to give medications under SB1857 o RN responsible for ongoing oversight and training and competency of the staff o Re-do SAMS training - Example: Medication Management Training o Policies – update!!!
