Nobody wants to talk about death. It’s a subject we’d rather not think about. Yet – no one is exempt from death. Death is very much a Bible subject. Knowing what the Bible says about death strengthens our Christian walk in several profound ways.

The world teaches numerous fallacious views on death:

Rebirth into a new material body Believed by Hindu’s Buddhists, et.al.

 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.  Hebrews 9:27 -- Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment…

Nothing supernatural can be truly known. Or – there is no life after death

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands…Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7We live by faith, not by sight.

Jannah and Jahannam – “heaven” and “hell” with multiple levels to climb through Fleshly view of heaven.

Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect….

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

1 John 3:2-3 -- Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure. Our knowledge motivates us to purity

1 Peter 4:7 -- The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self- controlled so that you can pray.

Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

John 3:16-18 -- "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. ”

So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. God’s patience means salvation. What does that mean for us?

Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 12Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. We need to let the world see our good deeds.

So we will know the truth. So we will know how to live our lives. So we will try and spare others from the tragedy of dying away from the Lord. We will all die unless the Lord returns first. Are we ready?
