1 ENACTUS TRAINING Showcasing enactus criterion Developed by D Caspersz & D Bejr, 2013

2 All enactus projects should meet the enactus judging criterion “Considering the relevant economic, social, and environmental factors, which enactus team most effectively empowered people in need by applying business and economic concepts and an entrepreneurial approach to improve their quality of life and standard of living?” For more information on the enactus judging criterion, see page 44 of the 2013 Enactus Team Handbook2013 Enactus Team Handbook

3 But how do you relate this to a project?

4 “Considering the relevant economic, social and environmental factors” Consider how these factors may affect the project, or what impact their project will have on these factors (bottom triple line; profit, people, plant) Economic may include money, businesses, the economy, sustainability, renewability for resources or over/under production Social may include current or changing views of stereotypes, historical events, culture, language, community groups or group expectations Environmental may include minimising wastes, creating more efficient products, being sustainable or using renewable energy sources

5 All enactus projects should aim to effectively empower people in need. Project participants are not limited to simply the poor, disadvantaged, marginalized in society, underprivileged, and/or economically challenged May include teaching youth to make decisions for their/their worlds future, encouraging elderly to give back, helping workplaces to develop their own community spirit, or working with a university to increase student reach!

6 Use entrepreneurial action to increase the quality of life and standard of living for its projects participants

7 Quality vs Quantity? Focus on QUALITY with your quantity! For example: Self-esteem: use your statistic of no. of people with self-esteem increase. Then use quotes, video recordings and pictures to show the difference this has made to their life! Education: tell the audience how many participants have become qualified, and then pick one or two participants as case studies to show how receiving that education has improved their lifestyle. People in need: explain why you focused on one group of participants instead of another, and the information and research you based that decision on Empowerment: show how your participants are using the things taught through your project to better their lives, and the lives of those around them, then tell the audience how many people in total have been impacted by your project

9 Showcase Layout 17 minutes to showcase your team Suggested timing could be: 1-2 minutes - University and community demographics 1 minute - Team history 1 minute - Team mission and goals 9 minutes - Projects 3 minutes - Sustainability 2 minutes - Closing statements ** some of these sections may be covered together, reducing overall time spent on each, ie projects and sustainability

10 Showcase Layout: Project Section Chose 2 or 3 core projects Discuss the project name, and brief description (30 seconds) History of project and its current status (1 minute) Achievements of the project (1 minute) Future project plans (30 seconds)
