Every student in the state of California fall under one of four language classifications:
EO (English Only)
IFEP (Initially Fluent English Proficient)
RFEP (Reclassified Fluent English Proficient)

6. Gage Middle School’s Reclassification Goals
In the school year the LD6 Reclassification goal for the year was 10%.
In the school year the LD6 Reclassification goal for the year is 20%
To meet this goal, we must Reclassify at least 275 students.

7. Requirements for Reclassification
Score at least a 4 or 5 on the CELDT (Annually)
2. Score Basic, Proficient or Advanced in the ELA section of the CST. (Annually)
Pass English/ESL class with a grade of ‘C’ or better.
* As of September 2006, students no longer need to pass their Math class with a grade of ‘C’ or better to be eligible for reclassification.

Improving articulation between feeder schools and Gage
Educating parents and students about the ELD program and Reclassification requirements.

9. Startling Reclassification Data for LAUSD
The drop out rate for LEP students in over 70%.
Out of the LEP students who complete four years of high school, only 20% meet the graduations requirements.
